RESEARCH NEWS
Can aluminum-weave fabric protect workers from heat stress?

Many of us use aluminum-covered sun shades to keep our cars cool on hot summer days. A Â鶹ÊÓƵ-supported research team at Auburn University has been testing a 50% aluminum weave fabric (Aluminet) to see if it can help protect workers from heat stress in the summer. Test results from an Aluminet vest were mixed, but shade tents for cooling breaks may hold more promise. Visit www.cpwr.com for a one-page summary of the study's key findings or the full Â鶹ÊÓƵ Report, Aluminet: An Intervention for Heat-related Illness among Construction Workers.
