5th Annual National Stand-Down to Prevent Struck-by Incidents Coming in April

National Work Zone Awareness Week 2024 will take place April 15-19, including the NORA Construction Sector Council’s fifth annual National Stand-Down to Prevent Struck-by Incidents. Any workplace can hold a stand-down by taking a break to focus on struck-by hazards and reinforcing the importance of training and prevention. Learn how to participate in the event and about this hazard -- including resources to make workers safer -- on our

New Electrical Task Analysis Documents Respond to Hazards and Production Challenges

Â鶹ÊÓƵ has just released documents that address safety and health hazards, as well as production challenges, for multiple electrical tasks. Developed from onsite observations and interviews with electrical workers and industry practitioners, these documents can be used for pre-task planning, hazard analysis, and training. Data Dashboards Focused on OSHA Citations Updated

Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Data Center has updated two more of its Data Dashboards: and . Like all of the more than 30 interactive Data Dashboards, these two offer flexible charts to customize views and the opportunity to download the underlying data.

Coming May 6-10 is the 11th annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction. Part of the year-round Campaign to Prevent Falls in Construction, the  has provided guidance and free materials to hundreds of thousands of people across the industry over the past decade. Watch for updates on how to sign up and order hardhat stickers, Hazard Alert Cards, and more.


2023 Annual Report Available Now

Â鶹ÊÓƵ has just released the , our annual report. It captures Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s work over the past year, in collaboration with workers, unions, contractors, researchers, government officials, and medical experts, to improve the safety and health of people across the construction industry. Through our research, training, and service programs, Â鶹ÊÓƵ addressed ongoing and emerging issues, including falls, mental health, safety culture, struck-by incidents, and technology such as exoskeletons and nanomaterials.

Research & Resources for Construction Workers at Disproportionate Risk

Hosted by Occupational Health & Safety

Two Â鶹ÊÓƵ staff members will present key findings and resources for at-risk construction workers during this webinar. Data Center Director Amber Trueblood will review recent employment and other trends, highlighting information on language barriers, aging workers, Hispanic workers, and women in construction. Jessica Bunting, Research to Practice (r2p) director, will describe free Â鶹ÊÓƵ resources that address safety and health hazards disproportionately affecting these populations, including contractor planning resources, training materials, and guidance for workers.

Nominations Open for the 2024 Prevention through Design Award

NIOSH Prevention Through Design (PtD) award recognizes individuals, teams, businesses, and other organizations that have eliminated or reduced hazards through design or re-design efforts or have contributed to the body of knowledge that enables PtD solutions. NIOSH presents the award in partnership with the AIHA, ASSP, and NSC. Nominations for the 2024 Award are now being accepted and are due March 1. To learn how to submit a nomination, AIHA will host the 2024 PtD Award ceremony at AIHA Connect in Columbus, Ohio, May 20-22.
