New Â鶹ÊÓƵ-Supported Safety and Health Research Projects
 Â鶹ÊÓƵ's selection to again serve as the NIOSH National Construction Center has provided the opportunity to continue conducting applied research that improves construction worker safety and health. Included in this work are 13 new multi-year research projects -- seven led by university-based research partners and six by Â鶹ÊÓƵ staff. Some build off previous research, on topics such as manual materials handling, isocyanates, and nanotechnology; others head in new directions, such as promoting safety and health for women construction workers through mentorship and evaluating exoskeletons. Physicians' Alerts Help Workers Receive Proper Medical Treatment
Physicians' Alerts help construction workers at risk of developing work-related medical conditions receive proper diagnosis and treatment. Now available in English and Spanish, the Physicians' Alerts contain valuable information for workers and their physicians related to common exposures and tasks in construction, including best practices to prevent and mitigate exposure-related conditions.
Preventing Struck-by Injuries and Fatalities in Construction Work Zones
To help construction contractors and their employees reduce struck-by injuries and fatalities, the NORA Construction Sector Council has developed a new collection of online resources to provide ready access to training materials and the latest research from trusted sources.
r2p Seminar Report Highlights Progress
Our Research to Practice (r2p) program has made major contributions to increasing construction workers' and contractors' awareness and use of research findings to reduce occupational injuries, illnesses, and fatalities. Our annual r2p Seminar and Partnership Workshop is an integral part of this work, providing a platform for researchers to report on their progress and findings and to get feedback from industry stakeholders and other researchers. A new report on these seminars summarizes discussions, initiatives, and new resources.

Small Study Program Reopens Funding Opportunities
Our Small Study Program provides researchers funding of up to $30,000 to investigate promising new research initiatives in areas like r2p, emerging issues, safety culture, and reaching high-risk sectors. Many Â鶹ÊÓƵ Small Study grant recipients have gone on to expand their research with larger projects, and other Small Studies have resulted in important stand-alone projects. Wednesday, December 18th at 2:00 p.m. ET: Using Partnerships to Advance Safety & Health in Construction
We use a number of different partnership structures to work with researchers, government representatives, industry associations, manufacturers, unions, contractors, and other industry stakeholders. These r2p partnerships allow us to advance the development and use of safer equipment and work practices. During this one-hour (including Q+A) webinar, Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Jessica Bunting, assistant director of Research to Practice, and Eileen Betit, director of Research to Practice, will describe how Â鶹ÊÓƵ's partnerships, networks, tools, and resources have been developed -- including the Construction Research to Practice (r2p) Partnership Toolkit -- and will highlight lessons learned from our experiences.
